Water Treatment & Filtration

Well water treatment and filtration keeps your water clean and clear

There are several different options for the treatment of your well water. No single treatment type protects against all issues and many well users utilize different water treatments to address specific concerns.

Water treatment systems can be categorized as point-of-entry and point-of-use. Point-of-entry systems treat the water as it enters your home. Point-of-use systems treat water as needed in batches at a specific location, like a kitchen or bathroom sink.

Easterday-Wilson Water Services offers professional installation and maintenance of well water treatment and filtration services.

Water softeners

A water softener system is used to reduce the “hardness,” or amount of minerals in the water. A water softener typically uses sodium or potassium ions to replace calcium and magnesium ions, which creates the “hardness.”

Benefits of a water softener system:

  • Makes your hair and skin, and clothes softer. You’ll feel cleaner, and your clothes will last longer
  • Extends the life of your appliances. Chemical and residue buildup is decreased and appliances use less energy
  • Stain-free clothes and surfaces. Also, soap and detergents will be more effective; making cleaning easier

Filtration systems

A water filtration system removes impurities from water by using a physical barrier, or a chemical or biological process.

What’s in your water?

Easterday-Wilson can determine which common contaminants are in your well water and recommend a system that eliminates distracting smells, stains, and tastes.

IRON

Iron in water causes red or brown stains and an unpleasant metallic aftertaste. Treatments include:

  • Water softeners
  • Multi-media
  • Greensand
  • Ozone producing oxidation units
ACID

Acidic water causes green or blue stains deterioration of pipes, metallic tastes, and more. Treatments include:

  • Acid neutralizers
  • Sodium Carbonate (Soda Ash)
  • Sodium Hydroxide
HARD WATER

Hard water causes white chalky, red, brown, and black stains. Treatments include:

  • Water softeners
ODORS

Bad smelling water can be caused by Hydrogen Sulfide (rotten egg smell), bacteria, and the element manganese. Treatments include:

  • Oxidation
  • Chlorine injection
  • Ultraviolet sterilization
  • Carbon filters
  • Ozone producing oxidation units
BACTERIA

Bacteria can be introduced in a well system in several ways and the dangers range from a bad aftertaste to illness. Treatments include:

  • Chlorination
  • Ultraviolet sterilization
  • Ultra-filtration
  • Ozone producing oxidation units
SEDIMENT

Sand, mud, and other particles can lead to system failure. Treatments include:

  • Sediment filters
  • Multi-media
  • Ultra Filtration
NITRATES

Nitrates are linked to health risks like “blue baby syndrome” and various cancers. Treatments include:

  • Nitrate reduction
  • Reverse osmosis
  • Ion exchange units
LEAD

Lead is an odorless, tasteless, and invisible metal that can cause serious health issues. Treatments include:

  • Lead remediation
  • Acid neutralizers
  • Reverse osmosis
  • Water softeners
RADON

Radon is a colorless, tasteless, radioactive gas that has been linked to cancers.
Treatments include:

  • Radon remediation
  • Aeration
  • Activated carbon
